Racism
Omar M’Sai
Talking about “Race” is always a touchy subject. It is a social construct, having no biological relevance, and no real value whatsoever to humanity, in terms of making our lives more harmonious, or in helping us to form a more perfect union.
Given that, there are still those people who see one group of people as being far above the other races and perceive of themselves as having the god-given right to enslave, to rape, to dominate, and to control other peoples lives with impunity. For those people, race does become a very valuable tool.
Race is consistently used to separate us, to manipulate us, and to keep one group of us in a position to easily exploit another. How could any “Good” ever come from such a concept, and most importantly, how could race have any relevance to us, as seekers on the path of the awakened heart?
These questions, and many others like them are the kinds of questions we will be looking closely at in the seminar on race, designed specifically for the Sufi Community, that will be presented at Northwest Sufi Camp this coming August.

Kirtan: The Names of Love, Harmony, and Beauty
Mu’id Evan Bushnell
Kirtan is a devotional practice based on directly experiencing Divine Love through singing the names of god. The focal point of these sessions will be singing and bathing in these divine names while also exploring and honoring the root of the practice and how it came to us. Whether you like to sing or just listen, this will be an inclusive space full of life, beauty, and unconditional love. What you will take home is a memory of how you felt while chanting Kirtan, and perhaps you will sing Kirtan at home or seek out a group where you can sing with others.

Universal Heart Caravan
Khadija Goforth
The Sufi Invocation of Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan emphasizes Unity, embracing life beyond duality. The Sufi journey travels the way of Heart/Holy Love, with devotion generating “perfume” via spiritual practice.
Utilizing sound, breath, movement and introspective dyads, we will move together throughout history and over the planet, seeking out “all the illuminated souls” in our common goal of heart-awakening. Prerequisites: Courage, sincerity, introspection, compassion (for self and others) and a sense of humor. This class is particularly recommended for those whose path includes service/spiritual leadership or Universal Worship ordination/ministry, however everyone is welcome; no previous experience is necessary.

Luccia Jalila Malika Rogers
Humans are first divided at birth by sex, says Inayat Khan, and all other differences and distinctions arise from that. This first split among humans can be healed by each person fully diving into everything that goes with sex and gender and orientation and …
We go deeper and broader, expanding upon this course’s first appearance at Mendocino Sufi Camp and continuing the healing using Gender Walks, Sex Walks, Orientation Walks, and the ongoing search for the Walks of Man/Not Man, and Woman/Not Woman.
